When We Are Closed
Any telephone calls to the surgery between 18:00 and 08:00 Monday – Friday and between 18:00 on Friday and 08:00 on Monday will be automatically routed to the out-of-ours service. This service also deals with all our calls during Bank Holidays and training afternoons.
When first contacting the service a specially trained receptionist will answer the telephone. She will take personal details including the nature of the illness. You will then be asked to hang up and your call will be returned in a short while by the doctor on duty. The doctor will decide whether to give advice over the telephone or ask you to attend for a consultation.
Doncaster Health Centre is located at the Flying Scotsman, St Sepulchre Gate West and is open from 08:00 - 20:00 (tel. 01302 645544). This is an NHS service that offers fast access to a doctor, nurse practitioner and practice nurse who can provide health advice and treatment every day of the year. This service is available to everyone at a time that is convenient to you, your family and your community.
In the case of urgent need when the practice is closed you can call NHS Direct (0845 4647) to speak to a triage nurse. Your needs will be assessed and advice offered or arrangements made for you to see a doctor.
Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.
Call 999 in an emergency. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
